A Joint St. John Auction - March 9, 2024

The congregations of St. John the Baptist (SJB) and St. John Lutheran (SJL) are coming together to co-host an auction event again in 2024. Like 2022, it will be a Joint St. John Auction. We are united together in our love for the Lord Jesus and in our love for one another. We remember the words of Jesus from the Gospel of John, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34-35).

Why are we having a Joint SJB & SJL Auction?

Several factors have led to the decision to hold a combined SJB/SJL Auction Event in 2024:
• For over a decade, SJB and SJL have alternated years in hosting an annual dinner auction.
• The joint auction in 2022 was widely accepted and the feedback from participants was overwhelmingly supportive
of continuing with a joint auction in future years.

We believe that:
• A Joint St. John Auction is a grand opportunity to come together in Christian unity.
• We stand stronger together as we serve our community.
• We must support Christian education, which provides our students with a strong spiritual and academic
• Everyone is a valued, loved, and precious gift from God.

What are the auction details?

The auction will be held (tentatively as we are working through the details) Saturday, March 9, at The Village at 170 in Kohler. It is the same venue as 2022. The committee received rave feedback on the venue in 2022; therefore, we have committed to being there once again. We are working with the owners to ensure a beautiful venue for this event. We look forward to a special night together – including silent auction, fun games, sugar rush, a great dinner, and live auction.

How will costs and funding be shared?

All costs and profits will be shared equally between SJB and SJL. Some auction items, such as classroom baskets or projects will be designated to the affiliated school. There will also be an opportunity to donate directly to either SJB or SJL at checkout on the day of the event.

Will there be a Joint Auction Committee?

Yes. There will be a leadership group to ensure decisions are made at the appropriate times and that both SJB and SJL have a voice in those decisions. There will also be a joint committee to complete all the tasks that need to be done to ensure a wonderful event ensues. If you are interested in participating on the committee, please join us for the first
meeting on November 7, 6:00pm in the SJL Fellowship Hall.

Will all future auctions be held jointly?

The decision has been made to run a Joint St. John Auction in 2024. Future years will be decided after this event is completed.
