Connect With Faith – For Daily Life. For A Lifetime.
We strengthen our relationship with God over the entire course of our lives. Becoming more like Jesus never grows old. Faith forms as children sing “Jesus loves me. - As youth stretch through creative programs - And as adults test out new ideas. We believe that our lives are better with one another and as we are connected to God's Word.
What is a small group?
A small groups is an intentional gathering that meets regularly for the purpose of becoming better disciples of Jesus. Groups are anywhere from 3-20 people (depending on what your meeting space allows). Groups do not need to be all members of St. John, in fact, inviting friends and neighbors is encouraged! Groups usually meet in homes, at St. John or other locations around our community.
When do small groups meet?
Regularly! Some groups will meet weekly, twice a month or even just once a month. We encourage you to find a group that works with your schedule while still challenging you to spend more time building your relationship with God and others.
What will you do in a small group?
Activities of a small group include:
- Time to fellowship and get to know each other
- Opportunity to praise God for who He is and what He has done for you
- Reading and studying God's Word
- Praying for your struggles, concerns and thanksgiving
- Finding ways for your group to share your faith and serve together as a group.
What does a small group look like?
Groups come in all shapes and sizes. No matter where you are in life, it is important to have a group of people you get together with on a regular basis to study God’s Word and have fun!
Who leads a small group?
Disciples! Anyone can lead a small group. St. John has many opportunities to train as a leader and build your leadership skills. Developing new leaders is essential to the growth in both number and types of groups we are able to offer, so please consider leadership if you are being led in this direction. Contact one of the pastors for training as a leader.
How do I join a small group?
Just ask! Or show up! Contact the Church Office for a listing of current small groups. You can also find small group information at the Information Center in the Fellowship Hall.
